Helping Families Spend Positive Time Together
Family circumstances can change, but the relationship between a child and the people they love can remain incredibly important.
Smart Families provides a safe and neutral environment where children can spend meaningful time with a parent or family member following separation or other changes in family circumstances.
Our Chatham contact centre has been designed to feel comfortable, friendly and welcoming, giving families somewhere they can relax and focus on enjoying their time together.
Depending on your individual arrangements, we provide supervised family time, supported family time and community family time, with our experienced team available to provide the appropriate level of support.
Above everything else, we put the needs, safety and wellbeing of children first.
How Does It Work?
We’ve made starting family time with Smart Families as straightforward as possible.
1. Make a Referral
The first step is to complete our online referral form.
The form can be completed by a parent, solicitor or other professional and provides us with the information we need to understand your circumstances and proposed family time arrangements.
2. Initial Meeting
Where appropriate, we will arrange an individual meeting with each parent before sessions begin.
This provides an opportunity to discuss the arrangements, ask questions, raise any concerns and understand exactly what to expect.
3. Arrange Your Sessions
Once the required information and paperwork have been received and the arrangements agreed, we’ll organise suitable dates and times.
Payment is required before sessions are confirmed.
4. Family Time Begins
Children can then spend time with their parent or family member either within our welcoming Chatham centre or, where appropriate, within the community.
Our involvement during the session will depend upon whether supervised, supported or community family time has been arranged.
5. Records Where Required
For supervised family time, a brief, factual record of the session can be provided as part of the agreed service.
Any safeguarding concerns will always be managed in accordance with our safeguarding procedures.
